New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue, Inc., (NEOESR), is the largest Old English Sheepdog rescue group in the nation.
The organization was established in 1994. Since then, NEOESR has helped more than 2,000 Old English Sheepdogs find their furever homes.
NEOESR is run by enthusiastic volunteers. In addition to placing dogs in new homes, the group has helped many OES stay in their original homes by providing training tips and guidance to owners who were considering giving up their OES for adoption.
Each dog that enters our rescue program is fostered in a private home. NEOESR does not operate a kennel. Instead, we prefer to evaluate dogs in a home setting which is less stressful for the dog and provides a more accurate read of the dog’s house manners, quirks, and personality. While in foster care, an experienced OES owner and graduate of our foster home workshop evaluates the dog. The foster family assesses whether the dog will do well with other dogs and/or cats and/or children. They determine whether the dog is best suited to be an only pet.
The dog is temperament tested and groomed and evaluated by a veterinarian. Medical treatment is provided as needed. The dog is brought up to date on all shots. If not previously done, the dog is spayed or neutered.
Then the magic of matching the right dog to the right family begins. The goal is to place each dog in an environment that allows the dog as well as the adoptive family to flourish.
We hope that you will join us in our journey to help all OES thrive in loving homes.
