September 2007: Sorry it has taken so long to write back but I wanted to take some time and get to know Miffy better. I am astounded as to how humans can mistreat another living life. You can read Miffy’s story below which is amazing in itself and why she is even alive is some what a miracle. In the short time she has been with us she has displayed a tremendous amount of skittishness. She is extremely submissive and had to have been beaten as well. She was obviously used as a puppy mill, has no social graces, very nervous around other people, reminds me of Stanley and how he was just so glad to see the “world”, is really a “puppy” even though she is two because it seems as though she was probably never let out of a pen, anguish when she needs to go through a door whether in the house or outside. She is much better now after a week but when scolded for doing something wrong (not yelling) she really hides inside herself. Miffy has a favorite spot in the bedroom where she sleeps but she does not know “how” (believe it or not) to jump on the bed. She may also be afraid to but I really don’t think she was ever in a house in her early life. I am quite sure Savana will help train her how to do that…lol.

The first few days Savana had her nose bent out of shape and the there were some discussions but it’s a week later now and Savana is giving Miffy kisses. I think our biggest challenge is the psychological aspects wt Miffy and getting to trust us and feel comfortable that she is now in a SAFE place and her “forever” home. She is a challenge but both Steve and I are seeing improvement, slowly, but it is there and it will just take time. We have some before pics that are absolutely disgusting and once we have the “digital” ones we will forward to you. Our vet has given her a once over and has given her thumbs up approval. In fact both the vets office and the groomers staff have fallen in love with our ladies

Pete & Belinda Lamb at the TOES Picnic - September 2006

TOES Picnic - September 2006

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Tarheels Old English Sheepdog Rescue (T.O.E.S.) Picnic in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  As many of you know, I am from Rockland County, NY but if you offer me food, I am there!  I flew into the Charlotte airport, rented car and headed for Winston-Salem.  The T.O.E.S. picnic was held at Pete and Belinda Lamm’s wonderful house!  Pete, Belinda and the T.O.E.S gang should be congratulated for their wonderful effort to make the day a success!  Belinda (as always) was very well organized; upon arrival we signed in and got our nametags and a tour of Muttley Manor.  I was feeling a bit out of sorts not having Jamison or Reminator with me but Pete quickly remedied the situation by allowing Smoke to be my dog for the day!  With Smoke in hand, I felt better able to chat with all the T.O.E.S. people!  Michelina and Art drove up from Florida to be part of the gathering and brought with them a fine assortment of Michelina Sheepie treasures to sell and donate part of the profits to T.O.E.S.!  Michelina also donated a beautiful framed original piece for the silent auction.  As usual, I cannot pass up the opportunity to miss out on a one-of-a kind piece of Michelina’s artwork so I had to keep bidding!  Yes, I did get to take it home. There were several other items that were part of the auction that were donated by folks from the group.  Yes, I got two shirts!Everyone in attendance was there for the love of Sheepies and it was so very evident.  Many laughs at the antics of the gathered Sheepies (and Pete) were constant throughout the day.  One highlight of the day was watching Pete try to keep a wayward pup out of his garden but she outsmarted him several times!  Finally using his incredible skills, he put a piece of wire on the offending fence!  I have several pictures of Pete carrying this little girl out of the garden and into the pen!

I want to thank Pete, Belinda, The Muttley Manor Crew and all the members of T.O.E.S. for a great day!  The food was great, the company was fun and the day was a success!

Thanks to North Carolina Rescue, Trooper is now officially adopted & in his new home. As you can see above, looks like another satisfied & loving home for a dog that would otherwise be dead if not for the help of ALL of you!  Bless your hearts!

Belinda, Pete & of course,

Trooper thanks you too!

I was going through some old photos tonight & came across this one of Woodro....See how fascinated he was with the sheep!  Yeah, right!   Belinda Lamm of NC
